On October 12, 2018, representatives from Doctors for Healthy Communities delivered influenza prevention supplies to schools in Jefferson County. Last year, around 80,000 people died from influenza and its complications. Everyone 6 months of age and above should get influenza vaccine if they have no contraindications. Similarly, it is encouraged to practice the following basics:
-Avoid close contact when out in the community
-Stay home when you’re sick
-Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
-Wash your hands frequently
-Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth
-Stop smoking
-Continue careful surveillance of students and visitors
