Doctors for Healthy Communities is supporting the free clinic “Amanullah Sahi Dispensary” in Daska, Pakistan with the help of their volunteer, Dr. Bilal Ahmed in the United States.
Their manifesto is to provide free of cost basic health care. This includes free consultation and a three day supply of medications. The clinic is now providing vaccinations and some nutritional support to pregnant mothers and children under 2 years of age.
The daily patient volume is presently around 80-90 patients, and the clinic is open six days a week. The clinic presently has just one physician, one pharmacist and a nurse as employees. DHC hopes to assist anyway we can to ease the lives of people in the region.
The highest frequency diagnoses being addressed (in descending order) are:
- Diarrheal Illness
- Upper respiratory tract infections ( Pneumonia/ bronchitis)
- Skin/Integument infections
- Hypertension
- Diabetes
- Pregnancy related issues; mostly nutritional and anemia.
