DHC, APPNA and the Kroger Family of Companies collaborated to support public school in Lexington, KY. The volunteers delivered hygiene supplies and gift cards for the families at Maxwell Spanish Immersion Elementary School on November 16th.
This was a small gift of support during the holidays for fellow citizens in need. As a non-profit, DHC is humbled and honored to be part of this initiative. Our hope is continued collaboration with our public schools for any future needs and to carry on this fellowship of compassion.
Maxwell Elementary-Escuela de Inmersión en Español is a partial immersion model. Half of the school day is spent in the target language (Spanish), and half of the school day in English. Maxwell has been a Spanish immersion magnet since 1990. In 2007, the Consulate of Spain accepted the program into its network of International Spanish Academies. The school is part of Fayette County Public Schools which serves some 42,000 students from the Lexington metro area.
On their website, Kroger Family of Companies states “The Kroger Family of Companies is committed to community engagement, positive social impact and charitable giving at the national and local levels. Every community is unique, but their common goal is to partner with the neighborhoods they serve and help the people there live healthier live”.
