July 22nd, 2022 marked the last day for sports physicals offered by JCPS physical development and health services staff. DHC volunteers visited Doss High School for one last round of physicals before the school year began.
A large number of kindergarten, 6th grade and other students in general are not up to date for their school physical. Identification of health conditions is essential when it comes to improving equity and student success. These screening exams can not only identify medical issues but also psychological needs, food insecurity, vision problems and various social determinants of health.
Free sports physicals and vision screenings by Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation were offered from July 11th to July 22nd in various school locations across Jefferson County. Thanks to JCPS nurse practitioners, nurses, school staff and volunteers for providing this service to improve healthcare of our students.
